Philadelphia, PA (April 21, 2010) – For the fifth straight year, Wawa, NBC 10 and Manko, Gold, Katcher & Fox, LLP have joined together to name two local schools recipients of the 2010 Environmental Community Service Award. These partners are honored to recognize the extraordinary environmental efforts of the Epiphany of Our Lord School located in Plymouth Meeting and Abraham Lincoln High School in Philadelphia. The goal of the Environmental Community Service Award is to raise awareness of environmental concerns by recognizing middle and high schools in the Delaware Valley for their efforts in environmental service projects that enhance and improve the quality of life in their communities. The Epiphany of Our Lord School's project demonstrated the effective reuse of 600 empty gallon milk jugs to construct a "reading igloo" located in the school's library providing a visual demonstration of the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling. Abraham Lincoln High School's Horticulture Academy students achieved recognition for successfully operating a retail flower shop and managing a new greenhouse whose clients include community organizations, neighbors and various aspects of the school district.
