Rich Williams joined the firm in March 2023 as Senior Counsel after retiring from his position as Chief Counsel for Environmental Remediation and Real Estate at Ashland Inc. He has extensive experience negotiating complex environmental transactions as well as resolving multi-party environmental litigation and complex commercial claims. Rich’s responsibilities included real estate and corporate transactions, corporate governance, commercial matters, defense of environmental enforcement actions and regulatory counseling. He is a certified mediator in the Delaware Superior Court and has significant experience with alternative dispute resolution.

Prior to his position at Ashland, Rich was the Chief Counsel for Safety, Health and Regulatory Affairs at Hercules Incorporated, worked as Deputy Attorney General and head of the Environmental Section of the Delaware Attorney General’s Office and worked in private practice. Rich is admitted in Delaware.

Over the years, Rich’s volunteer efforts have included developing and moderating continuing education seminars on professional responsibility, service as Special Prosecutor for the Delaware Office of Disciplinary Counsel and service on the Delaware Board on Professional Responsibility. He is active on various State Bar Association Committees and a member of Wilmington Rotary. Rich has been a Board Member of the Delaware Nature Society, the Delmarva Boy Scout Council and other non-profits.

Rich is an active outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, hunting, boating and traveling with his wife Linda.  He also loves his role as "Poppop" to a growing number of grandchildren.
