Environmental and Energy Funding at the Forefront of the Final Version of the Federal Stimulus Package
Tomorrow, President Obama will sign into law H.R. 1, "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009," the House-Senate compromise $789.5 billion stimulus package. The final version of the stimulus plan provides for unprecedented federal environmental and energy project funding. The stimulus plan also contains extensive tax incentives for such projects, particularly in the area of alternative energy. To highlight the environmental and "green jobs" focus of the legislation, President Obama is traveling to Denver, Colorado for the bill signing ceremony (the Denver region is home to many alternative energy industries anticipated to benefit substantially from the enactment of the stimulus package).
